THE RUSH BOUNCE BACK FROM LAST WEEK’S LOSS WITH LAST NIGHT’S VICTORY
The Rush got back into the win column with last night’s 62-61 victory over the Milwaukee Mustangs but it was not easy by any stretch of the imaginiation. They had to do it with an ineffective Reggie Gray who for the first time in his AFL career played an entire game without a receiving touchdown. Instead the Rush had to improvise on offense and they did by scoring 3 rushing touchdowns thanks to Kelvin Morris, Russ Michna, and Marquis Hamilton. They also did it with a shorthanded defense as Defensive Back Vic Hall sustaining a game ending injury in the first quarter.
But as always the Rush found yet another way to overcome adversity. Reggie Gray made up for his lack of offensive production by filling in for Vic Hall on defense. Reggie Gray also contributed on special teams by averaging 20 yards per kick return. The Rush defense did struggle but they made just enough stops on defense at the end of the game to set up the game winning score. Russ Michna threw a 22 yard touchdown pass to Wide Receiver Jared Perry with 4 seconds left. It was a heart stopper but the Rush prevailed for the 5th time this season. Next up for the 5-1 Rush is their 3rd road game of the season when they head to San Antonio next Saturday.
