Chill Chasin’ Heated Patios
Summer is all but over, but that’s no reason to head indoors for the next seven months. A handful of bars and restaurants that debuted new outdoor spaces earlier this year are keeping customers comfy outside thanks to heat lamps and fireplaces—and in some cases, blankets and hot drinks, too. Slap on a scarf and head to one of these cozy hangouts. Here are a couple to check out:
1970 W. Montrose Ave. 773-697-8204
This Ravenswood spot is serious about keeping you warm. It already has four heaters and a fireplace and is planning on adding more heaters and doling out blankets to keep the garden rocking throughout fall with events like a Day of the Dead bash Nov. 2 and a Punkin’ Party Oct. 29 featuring punk music and beer poured out of huge pumpkins.
Open until: End of November
The J. Parker
1816 N. Clark St. 312-254-4747
The rooftop lounge atop Lincoln Park’s Hotel Lincoln gets the full brunt of the wind coming off of Lake Michigan, which can add a chill even to a warm night. Luckily it’s equipped with two small fireplaces and a fire pit in the center of a massive 14-seater booth, plus additional heat lamps for the fall. If that’s not enough, one of the bourbon- or whiskey-focused cocktails on its new drink list will help warm you from the inside out.
Open until: End of October
