The first ever Chicago Food & Wine Festival will take place at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Illinois November 17 – 18, 2012. Tastings and celebrity chef demonstrations begin at 12 p.m. on November 17. St. Charles isn’t THAT far out of the city proper, about an hour west.
This food and wine event will feature tastings from dozens of selected top chefs, restaurants, sommeliers, brewers, and mixologists. What’s a mixologist you say? It’s a super fancy term used to describe “one who serves drinks, especially at a bar”. And a sommelier? A restaurant employee who orders and maintains the wines sold in the restaurant and usually has extensive knowledge about wine and food pairings.
The Chicago Food & Wine Festival starts on November 17 at 11 a.m. with a one-hour limited ticket VIP kick-off that allows early access to the Tasting Pavilions and to mix and mingle with the event’s celebrity lineup. At 12 p.m., the event opens up to general ticket holders who can sample various chefs’ tastings.
The festival’s Best Bites Pavilion will be host to participating chefs and restaurants offering unlimited samples of their culinary creations. Enjoy tastings of wines, craft beer, and top shelf spirits from around the world at the Vines & Steins pavilion. Or shop the Marketplace where you can meet event sponsors and where you’ll find producers, manufacturers, retailers, and artisans that will showcase an assortment of products for eating, drinking, cooking, serving, and entertaining.
