Julia Child has truly become one of the immortals of American culture. One of my earliest memories in life is that of watching Julia Child’s cooking show while my mother was in the hospital having my brother. My dad and I watched the show where she made some roasted apples, which my Dad called “Baked Tits”. Ah, sweet memories.
Now there’s a new comic book out retelling her life story.
“Female Force: Julia Child” is the latest in a “female empowerment series” of comic books presented by Bluewater Productions, the Vancouver, Wash.-based publisher of comic books, young adult novels and graphic novels. “Female Force,” a Bluewater press release says, “showcases women that have made a difference in the world.”
Other titles in the “Female Force” series have featured First Lady Michelle Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Martha Stewart, and actors Carrie Fisher and Olivia Newton-John. (????)
It would be really cool to have a Punkmetalmamma comic, but I don’t know if I’ve made that much of a difference in the great big world we live on. What American female would YOU like to see a comic made for?
