If you’re over the age of 25, you might not “get”
Q2. And we’re okay with that. If you’re
too young to know or care about the Seattle scene, Q2 is for
you. If you had a MySpace page before everyone and
their mom got one, this is your station. If you consider a Green
Day track off Dookie to be classic rock...you are who
we’re looking for. Q2 is focusing on the next generation
of alternative.
Q2 will be first on the air with new songs from bands like AFI,
Rise Against, Fall Out Boy, Thursday, Coheed and Cambria, and
Linkin Park. You’ll also hear old-school punk bands like
Social Distortion and Bad Religion next to classic Green Day,
Sublime, and Blink 182 tracks. You’ll even hear newer
alternative hip-hop every now and then on Q2.
And since Q2 is broadcasting in digital High Definition, your
HD receiver sounds as crystal-clear as your iPod. Oh, almost
forgot…and we’re completely and totally commercial-free.
What the heck is an HD receiver? Good question.
Just as TV stations are improving their transmitters by going
“High Definition”, radio is doing the same.
But just like TV, you can’t get the new crystal-clear
HD signal without a new unit to pick it up. HD Radio receivers
also pick up all the regular FM stations, so you can still get
your favorite FM stations along with the new HD channels. And
unlike satellite radio, there’s no subscription fee to
pay, ever. We’re broadcasting for free—right now.
Q2 is a work in progress. We’re going to try not
to make the same mistakes that radio stations have been
making for fifty years—we’re listening to
you, our audience, as we build this station from the ground
up. And it’s up to you to help make sure we get
it right. You can always tell us what you think at q2feedback@q101.com.
We’ll be reading every single message we receive.
Check out www.hdradio.com
for a list of HD radio retailers near you. We don’t care
how you get your HD receiver. We just want you to get one, tune
it immediately to 101.1-2, and never change it again. Q2: Next
Generation Alternative.
