WRONG and WRONGER

Did you catch this week’s episode of South Park? Now in the middle of its 16th season, “South Park” has skewered most of reality TV’s most absurd creations. But on this week’s episode, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are taking on today’s most controversial reality star: Alana “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” Thompson.

In the preview clip of “Raising The Bar” above, we see Alana and her mama June shopping for pigs (we don’t even want to know) as they search for the one with the most “pizzazz.”

FARGO…THE SITCOM?

Print Print this page.

One of the best movies of the ’90s – hell, one of the best movies of all time – is being turned into a TV show. So what can we expect when Fargo, the homespun tale of greed, murder, and funny accents, heads to the world of shitty sitcoms and even shittier reality shows? Here are Maxim’s  best guesses (always creative) for possible adaptations, dont’cha know!

Robot Chicken DC Comics Special 9/9/12

Print Print this page.

For writer/actor Kevin Shinick, comic book heroes and humor make a natural combination. After years of working on parody shows like MAD and Robot Chicken, he’s often utilized costumed heroes to get a laugh.

“Everybody knows these characters,” Shinick said. “Like, everybody understands a Batman joke. You don’t need time to establish their personalities and then make fun of them. It’s like poking fun at your mom or your dad or your uncle. It’s just such an easy fit.”

On Sunday night, the Robot Chicken DC Comics Special will showcase Shinick’s love of superheroes and laughter by poking fun at DCU characters through stop-motion animation. Airing on Cartoon Network September 9th at midnight (ET/PT), the 22-minute special will utilize the stop-motion comedy skits that has made the Adult Swim series so popular.

Trailer for MTV’s Underemployed

Print Print this page.

You probably know close to nothing about “Underemployed” — other than the fact that the MTV show spent the summer filming in Chicago. The brand new series doesn’t have a star like “Boss,” as many recognizable faces as “The Mob Doctor” or any of the controversy that surrounded “Mob Wives Chicago.”

So what does “Underemployed” have?

A good looking cast, according to the new trailer. They’re playing recent college graduates, so they’re also really young. Oh, and they have pretty sweet lofts in the city, too.

“Underemployed” premieres October 16.

Alternate Opening Sequence–Avengers

Print Print this page.

In a just-released clip from the “Avengers” Blu-ray/DVD, fans are offered an alternate opening sequence to the Joss Whedon film, one that presents an entirely different narrative structure than what wound up onscreen. Here, Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) is being interrogated 48 hours after the events that concluded “The Avengers” and she’s quite displeased with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and The Avengers Initiative — this despite the superheros having saved New York and the world from Loki and his army of Chitauri.

The scene sets “The Avengers” up as a story told from Hill’s point of view; as any of the millions who saw the summer’s biggest hit in theaters can attest, that’s far from the case.

“The Avengers” Blu-ray and DVD comes out on September 25.

Perry Farrell “Live Alternative” TV?

Print Print this page.

Had enough with the crooning amateurs covering tired songs from the seventies on contest-type musical TV shows? Maybe you LIKE to sit through the famous judges critiquing some poor soul’s performance of a lifetime. Not that it’s wrong.

Perry Farrell (have you heard of Lollapalooza?)  is proposing a live music series to television networks, reports Entertainment Weekly. Instead of featuring singing competitions and celebrity judges, Farrell reportedly wants to create a showcase for established touring acts to come through and perform on TV for a large television audience.

No word on which network might be interested, if any, or what the show would be called, but one has to think that Farrell might be able to pull this off.

RED DAWN Remake Trailer

Print Print this page.

Based on the 1984 film of the same name, “Red Dawn” follows a pre-”Thor” Chris Hemsworth as he leads a guerillas army of teens in the hopes of protecting what’s left of American soil.

The remake has been completed for nearly three years but was never released due to financial issues at MGM. It wasn’t until September 2011 that the American war film secured a distributor. MGM sold the rights to “Red Dawn” to FilmDistrict, who decided to distribute the movie through Open Road Films.

Shark Week Kicked Up a Notch

Print Print this page.

Make learning about sharks even more fun by grabbing your pals, the remote, and a printout of the semi-structured rules to the game of Drinking to Shark Week. To make the game last longer, change the word “drink” to “sip”. If you can only catch one episode, or if time is limited, substitute your light drink of choice for something more potent. Or make up your own blasted rules!

1) Drink every time you hear an Australian, South African, or British accent

2) Drink every time you see a diver in a cage.

3) When a great white is ‘jumping’ out of the cage, drink from when the shark exits the water til the re-entry

4) Drink every time a person mentions chum, a shark attack statistic, or a shark fact (note: this can only happen once every person)

5) Drink every time the camera shows a surfboard or person underwater in the same frame as a shark. Also drink if they show you a chewed-up surfboard.

6) Every time a new person is interviewed, drink

7) Every time a person is declared a “shark expert,” drink

There are many more guidelines to follow (or not) for this game. Feel free to add or subtract your OWN rules, but just remember the goal of the game is to _________ (insert your desired result here)!

Breaking Bad Rolling Stone Cover

Print Print this page.

“Walter White does make the cleanest rock around,” Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston jokes at the shoot for their Rolling Stone cover. “So I guess that’s as close to a rock star as Walter White will come.”

But Cranston and co-star Aaron Paul, who met up with Rolling Stone (and some baby lambs) in Santa Clarita, California, one Saturday morning for the shoot, felt very rock-star being on the cover of the mag. In fact, it prompted Cranston to break into song as you can see at the beginning of the clip.

Being on the cover of Rolling Stone isn’t the only rock-god treatment they get, as Cranston tells us. He recounted one letter from a fan in Boston who wanted to sleep with Paul while Cranston was there. She left her number, photo, everything. “So we did that,” Cranston joked.

VIEW THE PHOTO SHOOT HERE and their running commentary regarding their exuberant fan.
