Travis Barker’s Public Service Announcement

Print Print this page.

Can you identify with this poor dad? Have you “lost your touch”?  Thankfully, there’s now help for you. Jimmy Kimmel Live and Travis Barker have recently teamed up to star in a spoof PSA titled “Helping Parents To Rock.”

It’s quite generous for a star of this caliber to donate his valuable time to help educate, promote, and share such a private “problem” with us “little folk”.  You see, it doesn’t matter where you are in your journey in life, people are all the same.  SEE PSA. Thank you, Jimmy and Travis.

Craig Owens–Back With Chiodos

Print Print this page.

Chiodos and Craig Owens have reunited this spring and will begin a late summer tour next month.

Owens left the band in 2009 and went on to form Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows in 2010.  Chiodos recruited Brandon Bolmer (ex-Yesterdays Rising) as Owens’ replacement, who recorded one album as the group’s frontman (2010′s Illuminaudio) before departing in March along with drummer Tanner Wayne.

Coming from the small town of Davison, Michigan, the men of Chiodos put in a ton of sweat equity to establish themselves in post-hardcore America. Forming in 2001 in high school, the band formerly known as the Chiodos Bros. (a tribute to the directorial team who created the horror-movie spoof Killer Klowns From Outer Space), issued three EP releases (The Chiodos Bros., The Best Way To Ruin Your LifeThe Heartless Control Everything).

Chiodos confirmed in May that Derrick Frost would be a part of Chiodos again after years of being away.

Celebrate the reunion of Chiodos in September’s issue of Alternative Press. Here’s Chiodos, in their OWN WORDS, describing their reunion:

All Time Low-Life on the Road

Print Print this page.

As I revved the engine of the Ducati motorcycle between my legs and checked my aim down the hallway of the Beverly Hills Hotel—obviously to make sure I caused as much damage as possible—the last thing I thought to myself as I let go of the hand brake was, “I hope I didn’t give the front desk my personal credit card.” Okay, fine, that never happened… But could you imagine if it did?

Ahhh…the words of All Time Low’s guitarist Jack Barakat. Awhile back, Jack contacted Alternative Press to ask about writing a piece for the magazine.

When Barakat reached out to Alternative Press (AP) about writing an Op-Ed, there was concern they would “have to use more black bars on the article than there was available ink”.

Luckily, his “rock star reality check,” as he likes to call it, turned out profanity-free and is a genuinely interesting perspective on the current state of the classic rock ’n’ roll lifestyle—which, according to Barakat, is on life support.

“New” Tunes by Joey Ramone Unearthed

Print Print this page.

There’s no denying that Joey Ramone was one of the most important musical figures of the 20th century. His strange frame stood powerfully onstage, giving hope to all the ugly outcasts that they could someday do the same.

Culled from home demos and assembled posthumously by brother Mickey Leigh and Ed Stasium (producer and engineer on many a Ramones album), “…ya know?” manages to maintain a cohesive sound despite its disjointed source material.

Luke Jaxon of Alternative Press gives a detailed review of the new release. You can also hear track samples.

Tegan and Sara–Their New Album

Print Print this page.

A seventh studio album is in the works for this sister duo. “I think people are going to be really excited,” Tegan Quin says of the still-untitled album. “I think we have a really good batch of songs. I know on the last record [2009’sSainthood] we were experimenting a lot—like on “Paperback Head” and “Arrow.” Not all the songs landed, but certain tracks really did, and I think with this one, this is going to be more in the vein the way people got attached to So Jealous and The Con. They’re all really good songs—really good stories, really good intentions.”

When the album will see the light of day is another story. “Our hope is to mix in May and part of April as well, so hopefully we’ll have a finished record by June,” Quin says. “And it really all just depends on the label. If the label is really excited and doesn’t want us to put it out right away, then we’re actually pretty committed to that. We’ve seen a lot of different bands who held their record. Adele’s record was complete for almost six months before they put it out.

“I want to say the record will be out by the end of the year,” she adds. “But there is a possibility that the record will actually come out in 2013. Who knows?”

Annie Zaleski from Alternative Press interviewed Tegan Quin. The interview is here:
