Written entirely by Stone Sour / Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor, the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ comic book series is inspired by the Stone Sour double album of the same name, ‘Part 1′ of which was released on Oct. 22 of last year. ‘House of Gold & Bones Part 2′ is scheduled to drop on April 9, with the record’s first single, ‘Do Me a Favor,’ having already been unleashed for your listening pleasure.
As for the comics, the series tells a gripping story. “Trapped in an alternate reality,” begins an official description, “the Human must make his way to the House of Gold & Bones as he is chased by a crazed mob, and taunted by mysterious ally, Allen. What the Human discovers on his journey will be his salvation . . . or his destruction.”

“You left me here like a chalk outline” – the chorus to the first single off of Three Days Grace latest disc ‘Transit of Venus’ rang out almost prophetic in nature as the band took the stage to ravage a rock-hungry New England crowd on a freezing February evening in Lowell, Mass., on Wednesday (Feb. 20).
Shortly before the co-headlining tour with Shinedown kicked off, former Three Days Grace frontman Adam Gontier unceremoniously up and left the band without much notice, leaving them in a bit of a bind. Luckily, the music genes seem run deep in bassist Brad Walst’s family and he was able to recruit his brother, My Darkest Days frontman Matt Walst, to fill in on the trek. While this left Matt with some large shoes to fill and certainly sky high expectations, he seems to have settled into the role as the (temporary?) Three Days Grace vocalist with ease.
Shinedown were up next, starting off their set with a bit of a surprise. Drummer Barry Kerch walked onto stage solo and took his place behind the kit. As the music for their song ‘Enemies’ engulfed the arena, fans were searching to see where it was coming from. They only had to look back to the mixing board to see a separate smaller stage where vocalist Brent Smith, guitarist Zach Myers and bassist Eric Bass were getting the night started, rocking their hearts out. Halfway through the song, the three darted through the crowd and back to the main stage for a proper introduction to the near capacity venue.
P.O.D. got the night started with a short set that featured hit tunes like ‘Alive’ and ‘Youth of a Nation.’ Before their time was over, frontman Sonny Sandoval jumped off the stage and right into the fray to visit the fans in the front row and sing a song with them.

Everybody has to start somewhere, and some very early footage of Rage Against the Machine has surfaced online from an in-store performance the band did at Long Beach’s Zed Records back in 1992.
The very young looking Rage members (Zack de la Rocha looking like he’s 14 years old and Tom Morello rocking sideburns) share their thankfulness for having a place to play, telling the audience to be very careful with their surroundings as the owner was nice enough to let them jam. What follows is a 40-minute-plus performance filled with what would eventually become well-known Rage Against the Machine songs like ‘Bombtrack,’ ‘Bullet in the Head,’ ‘Killing in the Name Of’ and ‘Freedom.’
Grab a drink and a snack, crank it up, and take a trip back in time to 1992. BE THERE!

Few bands have made quite the impact that Nirvana did when they exploded onto the scene in the early ’90s. Led by frontman Kurt Cobain and featuring the talents of drummer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic, Nirvana revolutionized rock music with their 1991 sophomore album, ‘Nevermind.
But who should play the iconic rockers in a movie? Besides the obvious choice of Macaulay Culkin as Kurt Cobain, Loudwire magazine has come up with picks of their own. Incidentally, Culkin is not their number one choice. Actor Joe Anderson is the spitting image of the late, great Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. He remains relatively unknown, making him a perfect candidate to play the enigmatic Cobain.
In addition to having similar facial features as Grohl, ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ actor Efren Ramirez can definitely display the musician’s comedic side. So, we say ‘Vote for Pedro’ to play Dave Grohl in the Nirvana movie.
The first qualification to play the 6-foot, 6-inch Krist Novoselic is that you gotta be tall. And at 6 foot, 4 inches, ‘How I Met Your Mother’ actor Jason Segel definitely fits the bill, as he also resembles Novoselic.
Do you agree? Do you have someone else in mind?

Skillet are coming off the most successful album of their career and if they fail to meet the bar set by the last disc it won’t be through a lack of trying.
Singer John Cooper revealed, “Before we started work on the last album, I brought in full demos of 36 songs. This time, we had 72 at the beginning. So there was a lot of cutting down we had to do. Also, I’m not sure we even expected ‘Awake’ to do as well as it did, but since it did perform so well, now there is this sort of pressure to do it again. But that’s okay. I’ve enjoyed writing from my heart and from my faith and I think the new music is a really honest look at where Skillet is today.”
Though a firm release date and album title have yet to be revealed, Skillet expect to return to the road this spring. Cooper says the group are currently deciding on what the lead single and their video plans will be.

The members of Metallica continue their partnership with Vans by introducing four new signature shoes, each designed by one of the members of the band. James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo were all given free reign to choose any Vans style and make it their own by adding their own touches to the design.
The Vans x Metallica Signature Shoes:
James Hetfield – Inspired by his favorite black boots, James added hex-bolt eyelets and a personal take on the skull and cross-bones, illustrated by Hetfield himself, to “Metallicize” this Vans Sk8-Hi Deconstruct.
Lars Ulrich – Putting a twist on one of Vans’ original Classics, Lars updated the Era Laceless with brushed twill materials and a print taken from the diamond plate pattern on his snare drum. He finished his shoe with a Dirty Donny character on the inside heel.
Kirk Hammett – Tying back to a love of surfing and nature, Kirk chose an all-natural upper made of hemp for his collapsible Slip-On. The inside heel is accented with a guitar pick inspired by his Ouija guitar and designed by one of Metallica’s favorite artists, Dirty Donny.
Robert Trujillo – Robert grew up wearing Vans as a young skater in Venice Beach, California. For his shoe, he took Aztec calendar artwork, designed by his wife Chloe, which is carved in one of his bass guitars and placed it in blue, on the side of this Escuela.

Nothing says badass like a “gang,” but director Dave Grohl takes a little bit of a sting out of those troublemaking lads from Soundgarden by having them cruise the streets on Segways in the band’s latest video for ‘By Crooked Steps.’ Segways? But…watch to the very end of the clip for a special guest cameo from a certain EDM superstar posing as the arresting officer…

David Draiman is an incredibly busy man at the moment. Along with creating the debut album for his new industrial band Device, the vocalist is currently in the studio with Trivium to help produce the metal band’s next album. Draiman also recently gave an update about the on-hiatus Disturbed, revealing, “The beast certainly is not dead — it’s just sleeping for a little while.”
During an interview with Artisan News (watch below), Draiman spoke about the relationships he shares with his Disturbed bandmates and stresses that personal differences were not a factor in the band’s hiatus.
