In the November 2 release, Ralph (John C. Reilly) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer), the “good guy” star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.

On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch) from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it’s too late?

The Hobbit–The First Movie

Get ready to journey back to Middle Earth. J. R. R. Tolkein’s The Hobbit is being made into not one, but two feature films. The first, titled An Unexpected Journey,   is due out in theaters in December.

To expand the classic J.R.R. Tolkien book so that it could support two films, Peter Jackson drew from a range of Tolkien’s writings, adding characters not present in the Hobbit book, including Orlando Bloom’s elf Legolas and Cate Blachett’s elven ruler Galadriel. “In the movie we want these characters to have story lines and a little more substance than they do in the book,” Jackson explains. “Almost everything we’re doing is from Tolkien somewhere, whether it’s in the book or the subsequent development that wasn’t published in The Hobbit itself.”

For even more on The Hobbit, as well as EW’s jam-packed guide to Comic-Con—including sneak peeks of Pacific Rim, Iron Man 3, The Walking Dead, and Arrow—pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, out now.

Seven Deadly Sins, Buckcherry Style

Print Print this page.

Buckcherry has finished work on their sixth album, Confessions.  Although no official date has been announced, the band is aiming for a September release.  The group will also be making a short film to coincide with the new record.

Confessions will serve as a soundtrack to the film which is based off of the seven deadly sins. The script was written by Josh Todd,  lead singer and the creative mind behind the project, and comes directly from true events in his life.

Alternative Press recently sat down with Josh Todd to discuss the inspiration behind it all as well as Buckcherry’s current plans for the rest of 2012.  READ IT HERE

2012 will prove to be a vital year for Buckcherry as only time will tell to see if the band’s latest project can be deemed a success.  And even with all the risks involved, Todd remained confident in the band’s decision to take such a bold and artistic leap.  “This is our sixth record and we’ve been doing this for a long time. We’ve been playing rock and roll when it hasn’t been mainstream since we started with our first record back in 1999.  We’re accustomed to taking big risks and doing what we love, and being sincere with how we do things.  I think that’s a big reason why some people love us; it’s as simple as the people that are into us love us…it’s a love-hate relationship with this band you know.  It’s either you love Buckcherry or you hate us.  I don’t really understand that because we’re just playing rock and roll; we didn’t re-invent the wheel or anything.  But I really feel like we’re the only band from our generation that plays rock music and puts out rock records.  When we play live we don’t run samples or anything like that; it’s just a real rock and roll band.”

Three Days Grace has just announced they are releasing a new album October 2, 2012.

Three Days Grace’s first single, “Animal I Have Become”, has been their most successful, becoming 2006′s most played rock song in Canada. The album helped propel Three Days Grace to become the number one rock artist in airplay in the US and Canada in 2007, with Billboard ranking them as the number one rock artist of the year in 2007.

All American Rejects Don’t Care

Print Print this page.

When the All-American Rejects returned in March with Kids in the Street, expectations were high. After all, it was the follow-up to 2008′s When the World Comes Down — an album that continued their string of crossover successes thanks to the hit “Gives You Hell” — and powered by slick first single “Beekeeper’s Daughter,” Kids looked certain to continue that trend.

But alas, sales have been slow. Kids in the Street debuted on Billboard’s top album chart at #18, and has since fallen off the Top 200.

The Rejects aren’t worried by that slow start. In fact, to hear them tell it, everything’s going according to plan.

“This is the record where we’re trying to prove ourselves as an ‘album band.’ We’ve done fine with singles,” AAR frontman Tyson Ritter told MTV News backstage at the Bamboozle festival. “Our last record, we were so proud of, but ‘Gives You Hell,’ sort of just steam-rolled the way and let nothing else surface. Honestly, man, we’re a whatever-the-hell-anybody-takes-from-us band. Singles, records, buy it, steal it — just feel it. I don’t care. Just come to a show.”

Flyleaf to Play Benefit Concert for Fallen Member

Print Print this page.

Flyleaf appears to be a five-piece, multi-platinum alternative band from Texas. Not quite. Fans might be surprised to know that for 10 years there has been a sixth member of the band. Flyleaf’s sound engineer Rich Caldwell has had a dramatic impact on the sound and success of the band, so much so that Flyleaf referred to him as its sixth member.

Flyleaf has just lost its sixth man. Last month, Caldwell died in an automobile accident near his home in College Station, Texas, leaving the band breathless.

The band wanted to do something to both honor his memory and raise money to help support his family. Caldwell is survived by his wife Katy and two-year-old son Kirby. Caldwell carried no life insurance.

It may be later than the band would have liked to honor him, but it’s not too late. Flyleaf will play a benefit concert for Caldwell’s family on May 20 at the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas.

The tragic accident comes on the heels of the band preparing the release of their third record, their follow up to 2009’s Memento Mori. The release date is planned for early summer.

The band then plans on embarking on a headlining tour in the fall.
