I don’t remember how we found each other but I like to think that the universe had a plan all along. A few years back Ben emailed me and asked me to listen to a band he was in called The Enders. After listening to a few songs I instantly became a fan. Fast forward to today where below you can listen to the first song off of The Enders debut album “The Ruins Of Ambition” .
The song is called “Take Control” its a fast hard hitting hardcore track that builds even more anticipation for the full length.I asked Ben what the song was about and this is what he said
“The song is pretty straightforward… directly attacking politicians and the government for dishonesty, as well as the average American’s willful ignorance in all things political, and my refusal to play along… mostly”.
The Enders debut album “The Ruins Of Ambition” is due out in June. For all things Enders head over to their Facebook Page www.facebook.com/theenders
Like many others I was shocked to hear the news that Tom Gabel of Against Me! came out as transgender. The news broke from a Rolling Stones article. In the article Gabel had this to say:
“I’m going to have embarrassing moments…and that won’t be fun. But that’s part of what talking to you is about – is hoping people will understand, and hoping they’ll be fairly kind”.
As for his marriage to his wife Heather “For me, the most terrifying thing about this was how she would accept the news…But she’s been super-amazing and understanding” said Gabel.
Gabel will eventually change his name to Laura Jane Grace and remain married. The rest of the interview and full story about Tom Gabel’s change will be featured in this weeks Rolling Stones Magazine which hits newsstands Friday May 11th. After hearing and reading about this the first thing I did was check the fourms, blogs and facebook pages to see what the reaction was. Overall the reaction was shocked but accepting. Thats kind of what I figured it would be. The punk community is filled with outcasts and people who are different. If there was any community that would accept Tom Gabel it would be the punk community. It made me smile seeing all the nice posts on the Against Me! facebook page. It’s times like these where I feel good to be apart of the punk community.
