New Rock Releases For 2014
With 2014 now ready to roll out a year of music, fans have been waiting for quite a while for albums from some of their favorite artists. This year we’re told we can finally expect to see new releases from many of rock’s biggest names including…
It’s been 8 years now since Tool has released an album. We’re hearing 2014 is the year the band will release their fifth studio album.
Coming off their remixed packaged product with the hit “A Light That Never Comes” produced by EDM Producer Steve Aoki and having Chester Bennington doing vocals for STP. Mike Shinoda has said that their sixth studio album should be ready for 2014
So much for taking breaks. In 2012, the band said they’re taking a break. In what seemed like a few hours, Dave Grohl was talking about working on the band’s eighth new album. Grohl had told Rolling Stone in November that “we’re doing it in a way that no one’s done before and we’re writing the album in a way that I don’t think has been done before.” The album is expected to be released this year.
Georgia’s modern metal foursome are currently in the studio to record the follow up to the 2011 ‘The Hunter’.
With a new label (Capitol Records) and a new vibe, Beck’s expected to release his first new album in six years. ‘Morning Phase’ is supposed to be due out in February. Word is he’s slotted to release two full albums this year.
THE BLACK KEYS
In what seems like forever ago, Black Keys’ Dan Auerback told fans that the would be able to make their next album in just two weeks. Well, we’re told that its finally going to get released this year, we’ll see.
Brian Burton A/K/A Danger Mouse will team up again with The Shins’ James Mercer to release their second album ‘After The Disco’ for Jan. 14
FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE
After two years and a bunch of very cool remixes from EDM’s Calvin Harris and more, Florence and the Machine are expected to have their follow up to ‘Ceremonials’ ready for this year.
Adam Clayton had wanted to get the 12 tracks finished by the end of November 2013. Looks like their gift to themselves of finishing the recording before Christmas came early. The follow up to 2009’s ‘No Line On The Horizon’ is scheduled to be released soon. No stranger to remixes and using electronics, U2 brought on Danger Mouse, David Guetta and others. Then there’s the single “Ordinary Love” from the movie Mandela” Long Walk To Freedom already out this year.
Does Thom Yorke ever sleep? Recording side projects with Atoms For Peace where he, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich and others brought us some great music, there’s still the matter of new music for Radiohead. Last summer, the band with Yorke recorded a new track at Jack White’s Nashville studio on the way out to Bonnaroo. So if there’s no new album at least we may get a single.
Other harder new releases for 2014 expected include Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer, Judas Priest and more.
