Joe Perry Of Aerosmith Says New Album Got Polite Applause
Joe Perry tells Boston magazine: “When we go out there and play live, people don’t really want to hear anything unless they know it. We’ve played a couple of songs off the new record and got some polite applause.
“Before the tour, I tweeted, ‘What song off the new record would you like to hear?’ The first tweet I got back was, ‘It depends what song you have to take out of the set.’ That really put things into perspective.
“I don’t know if it’s worth going in and sweating blood over a new record when we could be out on the road playing all these other songs people want to hear. It’s an interesting position to be in.”
Dave Lombardo Says No More Slayer
When asked if former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo would possibility return, his answer was:
“No. That’s it. I’m done now,” Lombardo told Metal Hammer. “I’ve got lots of other things on my plate and I now know that, when it comes to money, you don’t have any friends in this business. I won’t ever be going back.”
“We just saw each other before going onstage every night. You travel in different buses and hang out in different circles. It made it very hard to go onstage and have any sort of chemistry.”
Glass Delirium Perform “Journey” Parody Video “Separate Ways”
Glass Delirium’s Pat Anderson had this to say about the video, “You know a lot of bands cover this song, and they do a great job. It really is a great song! When the idea came up to have us do a shot for shot remake of the video, we lost it!
“When it came time to shoot the video, none of us could keep a straight face, with the mullet wigs, and horribly awesome wardrobe. Goodwill rocks by the way!
“Once we played the video next to the original music video, by Journey, we knew that we had something totally hilarious, and cool. I cant wait for everyone to see this!”
AC/DC New Album Updates
AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd gives some updates on the band’s new album:
“It was done in 10 days, and I’ve never played better,” Rudd told Triple M radio in Sydney, Australia, describing the new music as “stellar.” “I hope it’s as good as I remember when I came away from the studio,” he added. “It’s pretty damn good.”
“Usually you master something and wait a couple of weeks, and you go and have a listen to it,” he says. “They do things a certain way – I think they’re taking too long.”
Smashing Pumpkins Say, If It’s Not A Hit, We Might Quit
During a new interview with The Chicago Tribune, Corgan has stated that the two new albums he’s been working on over the past year will play a key role in the band’s future. The vocalist has expressed some frustration with the current music climate and reaching listeners.
He explains, “I’m not willing to wait around 15 to 20 years to have somebody go, ‘Hey, that album that you made is really good.’ And then sell it to the 7,000 people that are still paying attention.” He adds, “When this [new album] process is over, I’m either going to bail on this ship for good, like ‘I’m done,’ or I’m going to have a new ship to sail on.”
The rocker admits that it’s tougher than ever to grab the attention of music lovers, often finding people looking around at their phones. He contemplates, “How do you reach through the fog as an artist? How do you punch your way back through? How do you say, ‘I still matter’? How do you say, ‘How does one of my contemporaries get treated like a contemporary artist, and how do I get treated like I’m supposed to play “Siamese Dream” for the rest of my life?’ At some point you’ve got to fight this fight or go away.”
