Filter To Record Their Seventh Album

Filter is getting set to record their seventh album with producer Ben Gross, who manned the controls for the band’s first three recordings. Frontman Richard Patrick is collaborating on songs with his former Filter co-writer Brian Leisegang as well as new guitarist Oumi Kapilia.

Patrick says he’s “headed in a new direction” this time, citing a “more stripped down industrial sound.” He says he’s approaching this album the way he approached making Filter’s debut, Short Bus, but “although it won’t sound like Short Bus, it’ll sound like Filter.”

Patrick has also announced that he’s begun writing a book chronicling his life in and out of Filter. He says of it: “If people had any idea of what happened to me from my Nine Inch Nails days to now, they’d be shocked. Drugs, betrayal, war, death, crime, music, pain, and drugs.”

Back in December, Filter announced a U.S. tour with Coal Chamber that begins March 6th. In conjunction with it, they’ll premiere a new live video for “We Hate It When You Get What You Want” on Vevo in March.

The tour hits Mojoes in Joliet on 3/22
