Playing at Porto Alegre in Brazil last night, Pearl Jam showed that covers aren’t just for teenage garage bands.
Strumming out a chilling rendition of the Pink Floyd’s classic “Comfortably Numb” during a thunderstorm, they played the night’s second encore despite the brutal weather.
Lead singer Eddie Vedder performed the song with Roger Waters at a Madison Square Garden Hurricane Sandy benefit concert, but last night was the first time he played it with Pearl Jam. The cover adds to Pearl Jam’s history of covering Pink Floyd, with past performances including “Mother” and “Another Brick in the Wall.”
