Acclaimed comedian and all-around great dude Hannibal Buress has been cast in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ according to a report today by Variety. The Chicago-based comic’s role in the super-hero epic is not yet known, but the in-the-know nerds of Nerdist speculate that Buress could be playing Robbie Robertson, a member of the Daily Bugle staff where Spider-Man/Peter Parker works as a photographer.
Outside of Tom Holland playing the new Spidey, the cast will also include Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Kenneth Choi, and Donald Glover. The ever gorgeous Marissa Tomei will play Parker’s Aunt May. For a while it’s been believed that Michael Keaton (yes, Tim Burton’s Batman?!) would play the role of the Vulture in this film, but it has yet to be confirmed in any official capacity. Robert Downey Jr. is reported to make an appearance as Iron Man/Tony Stark. The new Spider-Man was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ where he teamed with Iron Man.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is due in theaters next summer on July 7, 2017.
If you are not familiar with Buress, um …WHY NOT?! Don’t worry get into his comedy with his new special on Netflix called ‘Comedy Camisado’ or catch him streaming in episodes of ‘Broad City’ and ‘The Eric Andre Show’ on Hulu. If that is not enough, catch Hanibal’s adventures at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the out-late-joking-loudly documentary ‘Hanibal Takes Edinburgh’ on Netflix. AND..YES more, you can catch episodes of his Comedy Central series ‘Why? with Hanibal Buress’.
Hanibal jokes about coming back to Chicago and gambling on sports.
