Simple notes from a piano are all you get from this video posted by My Chemical Romance today, but it provokes an exciting question: ARE THEY COMING BACK?! One would have to assume MCR are gearing up for a return as their website and social media accounts are all using a new ‘MCRX’ logo with a vague lead to the date of September 23,2016. Fans of the band are already speculating this could be an anniversary celebration of some kind for MCR’s definitive album ‘the Black Parade’ which turns 10 years old this year.
My Chemical Romance quietly broke up with the following blog post on their site in 2013.
“Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.
My Chemical Romance.”
Since then, singer Gerard Way put on a solo album called ‘Hesitant Alien’ in 2014. it had a slight Bowie influence and 80’s vibe that earned positive reviews to boot. Here is a video from that album for ‘No Shows’.
Way in an 2014 interview with NME stated he never felt MCR was meant for anything “beyond the Black Parade”. Which makes sense with his perspective as someone who also works on comic books and other story driven projects, but that doesn’t mean they can’t come back and tell more stories in song right?
Frank Iero guitarist for MCR denied a reunion was in the works amidst rumors of it last year.
So here we are with MCR members staying busy with other projects, they have found themselves back together again. How do you feel about this? – @kevkellam
