Chicago White Sox made a big trade yesterday with All-Star pitcher Chris Sale going to Boston, and today was no different with Adam Eaton being sent to the Washington Nationals for three hot prospects in Lucas Giolito, their No. 1 prospect, Reynaldo Lopez (No. 3) and Dane Dunning (No. 6). Giolito is Major League Baseball’s number 3 overall prospect.
Eaton held .284 average at bat with 14 home runs and 59 RBIs in 2016. He led the American League with nine triples, the second time he has done so since 2014.
WLS’s Conor McKnight gave our sister station and home of the White Sox, WLS-890 AM the lowdown on Giolito the most talked-about acquisition for the Sox this off season. “If I had to guess, I’d say Giolito starts in the minor leagues this season but he is definitely pitching, save injury, he’s definitely pitching in the major leagues, at some point, next year,” said McKnight.
