The first half of Lion is the story of a poor 5 year old kid in India that gets super lost, taken to an orphanage and adopted by a rich white family in Australia. The second half of the movie follows the kid, now an adult played by Dev Patel, as he tries to find his biological family. The little kid and his journey in the first half of the film is really interesting and super cute. The second half of the film is much less interesting and even boring at times. Nicole Kidman is really intense. She has a few monologues where I got lost in just watching her speak. It didn’t really matter what she was saying, I believed that she was this person and that the memories she was recounting were hers. Overall, it was a very pretty film with a compelling story based on true events.
