Ian Abramson is one of the most adventurous and wonderfully unique comedians in America. He cut his teeth here in Chicago studying at the IO Theater, Second City, and performing stand up all around town. He made the move out west to Los Angeles where he’s broke new ground with a Comedy Central web show called ‘Seven Minutes in Purgatory’, where he puts comedians in a sound proof room to perform for an audience in a separate room via close circuit broadcast. It’s one of the oddest and most entertaining forms of stand up comedy you can find. Watch that here.
Abramson now goes on to advance his comedic grit one step further with a ridiculous training exercise he performed on ‘Conan’ this week that saw him wear a dog’s shock collar during his set. If his jokes didn’t hit with a random audience member, he got zapped. It makes for quite the moment.
