Unlimited storage. It’s a continued marketing trends in media — but what exactly does “unlimited” look like?
One user of Reddit decided to put Amazon’s service to the test. He used scripts to record and compile just under 2 petabytes of pornography in the cloud.
That must be a lot, considering I had to look up the definition of a petabyte (a million gigabytes, for the record). In order to sit and view all that smut, the article from Vice estimated it would take a person about 293 years, 6 months to get through it all. You read that right. That’s 300 years of your life you couldn’t get back.
Coincidentally, Amazon discontinued the unlimited packages in June. I wonder why that is? — [eric]
