Twenty-One Pilots have gone from an unique underground band to one of the biggest alternative acts in the world, selling out arenas months in advance, but they have recently earned an achievement that no one has in music, at least until now. The Ohio duo’s smash-hit Blurryface has become the first album to see every single of it’s tracks go gold according to Billboard. The rare designation of success was made official yesterday by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Blurryface has racked up tons of success since the RIAA changed their rules for Gold and Platinum certification.
7x Platinum: “Stressed Out”
4x Platinum: “Ride”
2x Platinum: “Tear In My Heart”
Platinum: “Heavydirtysoul,” “Fairly Local,” “Lane Boy”
Gold: “The Judge,” “Doubt,” “Polarize,” “We Don’t Believe What’s On TV,” “Message Man,” “Not Today,” “Goner,” “Hometown”
The last track from the 2015 album to pass into the golden graces was ‘Hometown’.
In the age of streaming music on multiple different platforms beyond a physical music release on CD of vinyl, this type of accomplishment could be more common with big name artists but it’s heartwarming to see our guys Tyler Joseph and Josh Dunn score this special honor.
Meanwhile, TOP is currently on a break from the public after extensively touring behind Blurryface, and there is no announced timeline for future music or touring.
