Because of a theory concocted by fans, many of the Twenty One Pilots clique were convinced that April 13th was going to be THE DAY that duo would released new music.
That day came and went. No release.
Such is the life right now of the Josh and Tyler super fans, who are so very excited to hear new music from the group — that they are reading between the lines, interpreting the stars, deciphering tea leaves…basically, trying to find any little shred of evidence for the group’s follow up to Blurryface.
The April 13th theory has to do with the number 40 — one of significance in the Christian faith, and therefore by extension, Tyler’s as well — at least, in theory. As the story goes, the band last tweeted something July 6th, 2017. That would be 280 days, or….40 weeks. April 13th would be day number 281. Just another random day, it turns out.
Now that the special day has come and gone without significance, guess what? MORE FAN THEORIES:
In summary, April 13th was just a big hoax by the band….because the 13th song on TØP’s fourth album is “Not Today.” Sure, that theory works I guess. If it was the band that announced the 40 week hiatus. Only it…..wasn’t. What else you got, Internet?
So, the world now has a new deadline for Twenty One Pilots music. Will this one come true? Unlikely. But don’t let me ruin the fun. Echoing what someone pointed out in the fan thread, I see nothing wrong with having a little creative fun during the down cycle. Just don’t tattoo the supposed TØP return date on your body….or start a cult revolving around it. — [eric]
