It’s been five years since we heard from The Black Keys, but their latest album Let’s Rock will drop tonight at midnight. One hour before then (11PM CST), you can listen to it for yourself on our airwaves (101.1fm in Chicago and streaming below) — another edition of our album preview series called “Uninterrupted Disruption.”
Some things to know:
- The album was recorded the old fashioned way — live — at Dan Auerbach’s Nashville studios and is a “homage to electric guitar”, according to the Patrick Carney.
- The appearance of an electric chair on the album artwork is not by accident. The album title Let’s Rock comes from the last words spoken by an inmate in Tennessee before he became the first since 2007 to die by electrocution. How’s that for a light and carefree fact about music? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- Why so long between albums? Why did Patrick and Dan take so much time off when they, admittedly, could have headlined any number of festivals or venues? They dismissed rumors that they had a falling out with CBS This Morning:
Here are some of the reviews that are rolling in on the new album:
