Say hello to paying more at the pump. Governor Pritzker is signing a handful of bills today, including one that’ll increase the gas tax.
The gas tax will go from 19 cents per-gallon to 38 cents per-gallon. The 19 cents tax has been in place since 1990.
So where are the taxes going? The gas tax will be used to help rebuild infrastructure (streets, water mains, etc.) as part of Pritzker’s “Rebuild Illinois” plan.
