Disney has been on a wave of taking from their classic animated films and giving them fresh live action takes with “Cinderella’, ‘Beauty and the Beast”, and most recently ‘Aladdin’ all hitting theaters. Now the one animated movie that won the heart of almost any grade school aged girl in the early 90’s ‘the Little Mermaid’ is about make a splash into live action with news today of a big casting for the film. Melissa McCarthy is in talks according to ComingSoon.net, for the role of the villainous Ursula in the film.
McCarthy who grew up in Plainfield, went on to play ‘Sookie’ in the ‘Gilmore Girls’ and the CBS sitcom ‘Mike & Molly. McCarthy also won over millions with her comedic performance in films like ‘Bridesmaids’. In 2015, McCarthy received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Her hosting spots on ‘SNL’ in the last few years have been fantastic too.
