Recreational marijuana is coming to Chicago in January which is bringing a lot of excitement, but could people be putting themselves at risk by smoking marijuana?
The short answer is no, however, new studies show that frequent marijuana smokers are twice as likely to suffer from a stroke and more likely to be hospitalized for erratic heart problems.
A deeper look into the studies can be found here.
That being said, these are just preliminary studies that are to be presented at the upcoming American Heart Association meeting this week. Until further studies are done, and peer-reviewed published medical journals are released, we can still assume that the consumption of marijuana is, for the most part, harmless.
