We have figured out the perfect way to take a nap: use the 30-90 Rule

Naps, more than food or “riffing”, rule the lives of Brian & Justin. Luckily for us, our friends at Inc have figured out the perfect way to nap and it’s called the 30-90 Rule. Naps are great for you. They help with memory, health, and productivity, but sometimes naps leave you more drained than before. NASA has found that 26 minutes is the perfect length for a nap, which helped the 30-90 Rule come into existence.

However, if you are looking to snooze for longer, Boston Globe recommends, “Naps of 90 to 120 minutes usually comprise all stages, including REM and deep slow-wave sleep, which helps to clear your mind, improve memory recall, and recoup lost sleep.”

So as a general rule of thumb, if you’re going to lay down in the middle of the day, it should be shorter than 30 minutes or longer than 90 minutes.
